Privacy Policy
The microphone
Room Tuner uses your iPhone's microphone for exactly one thing: measuring how your speakers and room sound while the app plays its test signal. The audio your microphone hears is processed on your device, in memory, into acoustic data (a frequency-response curve). Audio recordings are never saved and never leave your device. Only the derived measurement — the curve, a score, and your setup answers — is kept, and only on your device.
What stays on your device
- Your measurements (frequency-response data, scores, timing data)
- Your setup profile (what speakers you have, what you can move)
- Your app settings (source, target curve, mic calibration)
All of this lives in the app's local storage on your iPhone. It is never uploaded anywhere — Room Tuner has no servers, no accounts, and no sign-in. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Purchases
Room Tuner Pro is sold as a subscription through Apple's App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details, name, or Apple Account information. Your subscription status is checked privately on your device through Apple's StoreKit framework. Apple's own privacy policy governs the purchase itself: apple.com/legal/privacy.
What we don't do
- No analytics or tracking in the iOS app. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code of any kind.
- No third-party SDKs. No code from anyone but Apple runs in the app.
- No network requests. Apart from Apple's StoreKit (for your subscription), the app makes no network connections at all.
- No data sales, no sharing — there is nothing to sell or share.
Website analytics
Aggregate page counts. Our website server counts page requests regardless of your Google Analytics choice. The counter stores only a UTC date, the page path and a total count. It does not set or read cookies, create visitor IDs, or store IP addresses, browser details, referrers or URL query parameters. Known crawlers and prefetch requests are excluded where identifiable. Reloads and repeat visits can count again, so these totals are page visits, not unique people or app downloads. These aggregate totals are stored with our website hosting provider and are not sent to Google Analytics. The hosting service still processes network information needed to deliver and secure the website.
On roomtuner.app, Google Analytics loads only after you choose Allow analytics. It helps us understand which pages and guides are useful, when someone follows an App Store or offer link, which measurement files are downloaded, when a guide link is copied or shared, and whether an interactive example is used. Simulation events record the type of interaction, not the positions you choose. Listening-experiment events record starts, completed comparisons, retries, the selected MP3 bitrate and clicks into the next guide. We do not send your answers, score or audio to Google. Sharing events do not include your message, chosen recipient or destination app. Google may process page views, approximate location, browser and device details, and interaction events for this purpose.
We disable Google signals and advertising-personalisation features. We do not send Room Tuner measurements, microphone audio, names, email addresses, or App Store purchase information to Google. Your choice is stored in your browser on this device. You can change it below. Choosing “Not now” stops further Analytics collection on the current page and clears this site’s Analytics cookies. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only until you leave or reload the page. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Children
Room Tuner is not directed at children. The iOS app collects no personal data. Website analytics are described above.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Room Tuner ever changes any of the above (for example, optional iCloud sync of your saved rooms), this policy will be updated first and the change will be clearly noted in the app.
