Small Hours — original GarageBand arrangement 25.1793197279 seconds, stereo, 44.1 kHz, 24-bit PCM WAV. An original MIDI composition rendered with GarageBand software instruments: piano, guitar, bass, strings, vibraphone and drums. This is the first GarageBand mix, without the later additional Ride and Air percussion part. It is not a live recording of acoustic instruments. Both MP3 versions were encoded directly from this unchanged WAV using FFmpeg 7.1 / libmp3lame at constant bitrates of 128 and 320 kbps, with gapless/Xing metadata. No separate EQ or remastering was applied. Files (relative to this document): small-hours.wav?v=garageband-original small-hours-128.mp3?v=garageband-original small-hours-320.mp3?v=garageband-original manifest.json?v=garageband-original — exact file sizes and SHA-256 hashes The browser decodes both formats, matches average RMS level, applies a common peak ceiling, and uses the same output path and full 25.1793-second duration. It adds identical 5 ms start/end fades. No format-specific EQ or effects. RMS matching compensates for the approximately 0.44 dB lower average level of the 128 kbps encode; it does not guarantee identical perceived loudness. Browser/device resampling and output processing may still occur. The player does not certify a bit-perfect or lossless downstream connection. The WAV has 1,110,408 stereo frames. Both decoded MP3s have the same frame count. The supplied WAV is the first GarageBand master, preserved byte-for-byte. The older scripts/generate-listening-samples.py creates the initial 12-second synthetic prototype and does not reproduce this GarageBand recording.
